Amaterasu OmiKami ☀️

This is the Great Japanese Goddess Amaterasu Omikami, the founder of the imperial family and the personification of the life-giving sun.

This work is dedicated to Professor Ohtake Kyou (@kyou.ohtake) and her students, as well as to our meeting in Japan.

The doll's body features a deliberately hidden overglaze painting in the style of Imari porcelain painting—my personal signature. The doll is made of English Parian porcelain and is held together by springs. It is fully articulated (27 articulated points).

The doll's costume is made from vintage Japanese silk, based on ethnographic data from Japan's Heian period.

✨ The multi-layered Goddess costume was sewn by the wonderful Rita Kirilenko from Vladikavkaz.

✨ The brass mirror and crown were made by Mila Severnaya (Barana Morana, Art Doll and Miniature Artist).

✨ The magatama beads were crafted by lampwork artist Anastasia Yakovleva (LAMPWORK).

✨ I created the necklace from beads and designer beads; plated the crown with 2 nanometer gold; gold-plated the mirror hilt and rhodium-plated the mirror disc, laser-engraved it, and decorated it with miniature Japanese knots. I sewed the Hagoromo ribbon; commissioned a laser-cut scene based on my sketches and decorated it with painting.

✨ The fan was purchased at the 21st Creative Doll Exhibition in Fukushima from the wonderful 洗煌 (@co_co_2723), who also gave me white silk for the Goddess outfit.

Work in progress ❤️

In the process of creating Amaterasu, I focused on outfit and canonical accessories. When creating this doll, I consulted with many experts, studied ancient Japanese records, and wrote to friends in Japan.
